Aims of the project
This project - @ndyw@rhol.f@ctory
- is dedicated to modern art of Andy Warhol by eyes of the students. The
objectives of the project are to get more information about the king of
Pop Art A. Warhol and his work. To organize a creative artistic workshops
where students can improve their artistic skills, organize video
conferences between students related with the topic of the project
The project has the objective of training students to propose elements of
reflection and draw their attention to modern art, to create their own
artistic works in the style of Pop Art and to get more information about
both Slovak and Lithuanian painters, fine art.
Use
of ICT in the project
We use all accessible forms of ICT. New technologies
are used by pupils and teachers to find information, develop texts, scan
images, run "CD-album of photos, create video clips and sending
e-mails. We use twinspace and the blogs to make the outputs of our mutual
work open to patners and public. In addition, teachers and pupils have
used the tools of chat to know each other better, exchange ideas,
information and opinions on the activities of the project.
On the basis of the skills possessed, pupils, organised as part of a
team-class level in groups, have worked in a spirit of collaboration and
creativity, and meeting and interacting with others and making best use of
resources.
Results
and benefits
Students have written texts in Word, photographed their art works, they
created Power Point presentations about Andy Warhol´s life and work and
life and work of Slovak and Lithuanian painters, have sought information
on the Internet, and videotaped events were called to express their views
in order to initiate a dialogue
The business activities have promoted cooperation within the group class,
the development of language skills and increased the use of tools for Web
publishing. Teachers and students of the two countries involved have
increased their awareness of European citizenship and, especially, have
found that a common language can be powerful enough to break down
prejudices and bring people to common European culture.
The students have worked in groups and have learned to create simple and
clear presentations. Students and staff have intensified the study of
foreign language (English) to manage the project. The schools involved
have been able to share the work products and were able to make contact
with different ways of addressing the issues being studied.
Schools for their part have increased by experience because the comparison
is always positive. We had a dense network of exchanges to decide together
how to proceed and agree on the modalities of cooperation. A project
corner has been created and-twinning within the school where share
experiences, to show what this project is about and where the products are
visible to other students and teachers.
The project has provided an opportunity to distant and different nations
to know the human, cultural, educational, road to a European dimension.
The exchange has given the possibility to two nations to communicate
directly on the themes of the project. Pupils and teachers regardless of
the professional qualification, have a dialogue language via email, by
establishing a relationship of friendship and relationship that will
continue regardless of the end of the project. The involvement of pupils
and teachers has left a positive sign in relations between nations that
led to a desire for more direct knowledge.
Integration
into the school curriculum
As
part of the trail have been identified thematic nuclei, objectives,
content and activities relating to: Slovak, English, Art, History,
Geography, Technology and science, since the use of ICT can not remain
confined to ' internal disciplinary a specific area, but it can involve
all the activities, educational and non-held inside the school. In this
way the students can become users aware of their potential and their
limitations.
The project has entered fully into the planning and programming class
specification. Learning the class has benefited in terms of paths made
through interdisciplinary laboratory, which helped to preserve the unity
of teaching and have allowed students to acquire an organic and integrated
vision of all disciplines to avoid the fragmentation of interventions
educational and labour. In addition, teachers have communicated in a more
active and constructive way exiting the narrow "disciplinary
isolation."
The project was included in the school curriculum, becoming an integral
part of it. The subjects addressed were as thorough and served as
inspiration for new issues. It has always been possible to stimulate the
intellectual curiosity of the students who have always made personal
contributions to the choice of topics later
European
Dimension
The project, aimed to make an analysis of Andy Warhol´s work and life, to
learn more about Pop Art and art in general, to get to know Slovak and
Lithuanian painters, to do some artistic works of students themselves has
had a real European dimension. Debates of the students of both
participating schools were aimed on mutual recognizing
cultures and the way of life of Slovaks and Lithuanians. Students
exchanged the information about their countries, home towns, schools. The
collaboration, made possible by e-Twinning lets you experiment with new
ways of teaching / learning and enriches teachers and students from a
cultural and human, consolidating in a concrete way to their sense of
belonging to Europe.
Working in collaboration then students and teachers of other nationality
was fantastic and motivating for everyone. Professionally the opportunity
to comparison with foreign teachers highly enriched me and my students and
made us reflect further on actual usage of new technologies in education.
The students have really felt closer to their European peers and have
acquired a strong motivation to learn more about the cultural richness
European Union, through reflection on diversity and common roots. Through
the discussion of different views, has embarked on a path that is designed
to motivate children to participate actively in cultural life and
political European Students, through their direct involvement in planning
the route, they felt very involved and have shown great curiosity to the
lifestyles of their peers in Europe. Respect and tolerance of ideas and
feelings of others were the values conveyed by the activities. The message
that students have discovered, is that diversity, seen in a context of
dialogue and confrontation, are an irreplaceable source of cultural
enrichment.
Moment of constant and important project was the comparison of its reality
with that of European partners, acknowledging, accepting and appreciating
differences, promoting a greater understanding interpersonal, in the
spirit of a civil coexistence and an intercultural partnership.
The advantage of such projects is no doubt in
strengthening the European dimension in education, as well as in promoting
cooperation, innovation in teaching practices and educational materials
and the exploration of issues of common European interest of our students.
Innovation
and creativity
The
project about art is really creative and the innovation occurres primarily
in the type of the instruction. It is substantially divided as follows:
teaching curriculum, teaching with communicative approach. The type of
learning was dynamic. Although this methodology has been research, views
were expressed and presentation of the material under study allowed the
students the role of the protagonists. The presentations of the students
were of high quality.
All along the project we have learned to overcome the
inhibitions caused by the expression in a foreign language and by using it
as a business tool. What is of great satisfaction is also the mutual
interest on the part of both schools involved to create a permanent
partnership. To demonstrate their achievements, the students are producing
a DVD and a web site with all activities and presentations.
The students worked in groups, sharing their tasks and
applying different skills, but supporting each other's. Some students,
for example, treated aspects of language, others chose and processed
images and curate the technical aspects, but all together they created the
final product. The use of new technologies made the project attractive and
fast in implementation and gave visibility at European level to work for
teachers.
Sustainability
The eTwinning project, has been integrated into the
curriculum, involving teachers in designing and informing the families of
students' activity. The work was carried out by students of the first,
the second and the third classes. These students had the presentations
about the results of the project for their schoolmates and they were
interested and positively impressed by the results of the project. In the
future both schools would like to cooperate and collaborate together in
the similar project or in the Comenius project. However, what counts is
the importance of work together with other European school and the fact
that we have both benefited reciprocally.
Total
Quality
The overall quality of the project has been given by amount of activities
done by participating schools ad the quality of outputs of the project (workshops,
artistic works, paintings, drawings, PPT presentations, blog, level of the
cooperation of both students and their teachers. The objectives of our
twinning project, the cultural aspects have been fully achieved, the
quality of the project was without doubt the result of the great
enthusiasm of our teachers and pupils referents, motivation that gave us
the push for a confrontation unprecedented. And it may be noted that the
collaborative teaching, namely the click together pupils, the shared
distribution of tasks, cooperation among students have meant that they
felt the main actors in building up their knowledge, an aspect which
should not be underestimated.
Finally,
another benefit consists of the consolidation of the relations, both
professional and human. Thanks to their direct involvement in active type
workshops, students were highly motivated to reflect on shared values
within the EU and have made their culture of dialogue. The schools have
had considerable visibility and their work was valued in the eyes of
families and the general public, and also at the Annual eTwinning
Conference in Prague in February 2009 where the results of their mutual
work on the project were shown to participants of the conference. Teachers
were able to share and compare experiences and skills, actively
collaborating and creating the conditions for future collaborations.
